Frequently Asked Questions

No, our GPS dog fences do not require a Wi-Fi, a SIM card or monthly subscriptions. They operate independently, using GPS technology for location tracking and boundary setting. It's a one-time purchase for long-term use.

Yes! Pawios is a good fit for huskies, shepherds, retrievers, and other high-energy or reactive dogs. The cues help them learn boundaries without confusion.

It’s a good fit for most pups with neck size from 9 to 23in. If your dog is very tiny, it might be a bit much for them, but for the rest - from Beagles to Great Danes - it works just fine.

Once your dog is about 6 months old and past the very young puppy stage, you can start. That’s when they’re ready to focus on simple training.

You get two options: a) sound + vibration, or b) sound + vibration + static warning. Static warning feels more like a light tap on the shoulder - just enough to get attention, never to hurt. And if you don’t want static at all, you can simply stick to sound + vibration only.

Automated mode (default L00): The collar starts mild and automatically ramps up the shock intensity through 5 levels if the dog keeps going out—progressive correction to encourage turning back quickly.

Fixed mode: You manually set a specific warning level (L01-5) that stays the same every time the dog approaches the boundary.

We recommend starting with Automatic + No Shock mode (vibration + tone only)—it's perfect for obedient dogs and gentle training.

If your pup is more stubborn and ignores the warnings, switch on the static (shock) feature and/or change to Fixed mode to set a higher correction level (from L01 lowest to L05 highest). Most dogs respond well after a quick adjustment! 🐕

The collar can run for 24-36 hours on a single charge, influenced by your dog's attempts to breach the perimeter. It's recommended to remove the collar nightly and charge it overnight to ensure a full battery for the next day.

It works best for yards around 1 acre and larger. If your space is significantly less than an acre, check out our specialized compact wireless fence models instead.

This GPS dog fence delivers excellent boundary accuracy and stability across large, open properties. Customers said setup is quick and training happens in days. Battery lasts 1-2 days. Works best in open areas; dense trees or metal structures may cause signal fluctuations. "My dog learned the boundary in two days."

  • It is so easy to set up or change locations. It was awesome to watch it work so fast.
  • This collar has handled weeks of daily water exposure without any issues.
  • Signal is rock solid across our half acre.

It works!!

I love this collar! My dog always wants to play in the front yard with the kids, but she runs off to people, dogs, squirrels... We got the collar and now she happily plays in the yard. It is so easy to set up our change locations (we go play in a big field too). My kids can just turn it on and take our girl outside for some fun. It was awesome to watch it work so fast.

Accurate and safe

We live in a fairly rural area with about 9 acres of land, and our biggest worry has always been the busy road on the edge of our property. We needed something to keep our Golden Retriever safe without building a massive physical fence.

This GPS fence worked right out of the box. I was honestly surprised by how easy the setup was - no digging wires or complicated tech. It covers our entire 9 acres perfectly with zero dead zones or signal issues. Now, our dog has the freedom to roam and play, but I can breathe easy knowing he won't wander near the traffic.

The accuracy is impressive, and the best part is the lack of a monthly subscription. It's rare to find a high-quality GPS system that doesn't nickel-and-dime you every month. If you have a large property and a dog that loves to explore, I highly recommend this!

didn't need wifi - huge plus

Living on a farm, we struggle with weak cell service and have no Wi-Fi out in the fields, so I was worried this wouldn't work. I was wrong! It worked perfectly right away. There was no setup hassle at all - just 'boom,' and it works. We are so happy to finally have peace of mind knowing our Border Collie won't wander off to the neighbour's farm anymore. If you live in a rural area with poor service, this is a lifesaver.

Around 7 years ago, we spent a lot of money to install a wired fence around our property. As the system aged, we faced some issues and had to make service calls due to failures, which allowed our 4 dogs to venture outside the boundaries. The cost of these service calls became more expensive than newer technology options.
After researching and talking to others who had radio transmitters, we found that they experienced problems with interference and dead spots, making it difficult to correct their pets' behavior.
After reading many reviews, we decided to try the Pawious GPS collar. I set the Pawious GPS center radius close to the center of the old perimeter and let the dogs test it. The leader of our dog pack decided to explore outside the boundary the next morning. Although I couldn't see her reaction, I heard it, and she came back home. Later in the day, she attempted another escape route. I warned her to stop and called her back several times, but she ignored me until she reached the boundary line.
I'm not sure if she received a shock or just a warning, but she quickly returned home.
I've been using the Pawious GPS F810 collar for a few weeks now, and I'm very satisfied with this simple wireless solution.

Reliable collar system

Hands down the best collar we've used. The range is legit, not just marketing talk. No dropouts at all, even in tricky spots. Works smooth every time. Our Germa Shepherd picked it up fast. Finally something that actually does what it says!

Highly exceeded expectations, but durability could be improved

I've been using the GPS fence collars (F810+ 2 dog system) for a little over a year now and I must say my dogs respond very well to it! They learned it in less than a day. My only issue is that after a year, the arrow up button on one of the collars is broken and won't depress any longer. The same collar also won't always charge correctly. Sometimes it says it's fully charged with a green light but when I unhook it, it's only charged about halfway. Not a deal breaker because my dogs are super hard on things and play very rough. Overall would highly recommend this setup to anyone with a yard big enough to use it! Will purchase again when I need to.

User-friendly device! Lifesaver!

My pup enjoys running away, and we don't live too far from the highway. He's even dashed into the road a few times. This product took about an hour to set up, but once it was set up, it has been easy and a true lifesaver! No need for a physical or wired fence with this product. It's super easy to use, and I feel so relieved knowing my pup is safe and enclosed in an area where I don't have to worry about him getting hit by a car. Thank you for giving me the chance to review this product. I am very happy and grateful. I am also 100% satisfied with this product. I highly recommend trying it for your pup too!

Overall, nice product

I must be honest; when I first opened it, I was close to returning it. I strongly dislike the magnetic type charge connections. We had a tracker with a similar setup, and it's just not a good approach. It's challenging to position the collar to ensure a stable connection. Also, because it's magnetic, you need to keep it away from anything else metal to prevent it from attaching itself and potentially shorting out. Additionally, using a proprietary connection means we can't reuse what we already have. If there's one thing to change about your product, it's that.

Another aspect that's not ideal is the permanent attachment of the collar. If the collar breaks, I'm unsure how to continue using the device. However, the customer support team assured me they would replace the collar for free.

Setting those concerns aside, I really like the product. We have another brand for our other dog, and I think yours is better overall. It boasts better battery life and a lower chance of false activation. We have beagles, and one of them is quite determined. I wonder if she'll figure out how to get past it, but overall, I'm pleased with how it operates. If not for the charging mechanism, I would probably buy a second one.

Works great for our Charlie.

We own a poodle named Charlie. Before, our old fence had open areas, so we always had to keep our dog on a leash. Setting up the new fence was incredibly easy, and I appreciate that we can adjust the radius to suit our requirements. I'm especially fond of the long-lasting battery life.

swims every day, collar is still fine

dog in the lake almost every afternoon. collar has dealt with weeks of submersion and not a single issue with water or charging. build quality holds up.

suburban lot, works fine within that range

property is not huge but sits within the usable minimum. boundary is circular which fits the shape fine. a bit over a month in and the dog has not escaped once.

dog got it before I did

manual took me a minute, not gonna lie. I kept changing settings and annoying myself. Once I left it alone and trained my dog proper, it worked. The 3rd gen signal seems way more stable than the old collar we had. my dog learned the tone first, then I used low vibration when he ignored it. Now he mostly turns at the first warning.

buy once and done, no monthly nonsense

satellite connection, no SIM card, no Wi-Fi, no subscription. paid for it once and it has worked every day since. no ongoing costs at all.

solid once adjusted

First setup was too wide and my dog got warnings near the driveway. My fault mostly. Reset the radius, used Fixed Mode, did a few training walks. much better now. 4 stars only because it took more testing than I thought.

good for acreage

We bought this because our yard is way too big for a normal little wireless setup, and I was not trenching cable through roots. The circle boundary works for our mowed area around the house. I set it back from the road and left a decent buffer. Our dog got confused the first day, then it started clicking once we walked the line with treats. The continuous beep if he stays outside the zone helped me know when he had not come back yet. Overall very happy.

solid range, collar is a bit chunky

signal covers our property cleanly and the boundary accuracy is good. collar is visibly bulkier than i expected. our shepherd doesnt seem bothered but it is worth knowing for smaller breeds.

w
willowrun33
good but not for thick trees

Works great in the open part of our land. Back by the wooded slope it was less dependable, so I had to pull the boundary in and make the circle smaller. After that it did fine. Im keeping it because the dog learned it, but yeah, dont expect perfect if your yard is basically a forest.

pupdad303
works better than I expected

I was skeptical because GPS fences can be weird, but in our open yard this has been steady. The setup itself was quick, the dog training was the actual work. My golden needed tone first and vibration only if he kept going. After a week he understood the safe area. I also like that it does not need a subscription, because I am done paying monthly for every damn thing.

false trigger rate is basically zero

no monthly fees, no Wi-Fi, no SIM. bought once, runs every day.

T
Trish_F
satellite takes a couple minutes in the morning

needs two or three minutes to lock on after powering up. once it has the signal the boundary is accurate all day. minor thing but worth mentioning for anyone expecting instant lock.

fixed mode saved my sanity

my lab is sweet but dumb as a brick when a squirrel moves. Auto mode was okay, but Fixed Mode is what made him pay attention. I bumped the warning strength up one level and trained him after dinner for a few nights. now he hears the first cue and usually heads back like he suddenly remembered he has manners. The collar is big, but he is 78 lbs so its fine.

r
ridgewalker54
finally useful on our big field

we have a long open field behind the house and the cheaper fence we tried before was a pain in the ass. This one made more sense because I could set the circle wide enough without running wire. My shepherd tested the edge for two days, got the tone and vibration, then started turning around before going too far. Fixed Mode was the big thing for us, Auto was a little soft for him when deer were out. Not a baby sitter, still had to train him, but it actually keeps him in the yard.
